Let’s Talk About Weight Loss – The Truth No One Tells You

It’s completely normal to want to change your body—especially in a world that constantly tells us we’re not enough. From magazine covers and TikTok trends to celebrity gossip and the rise of Ozempic, we’re bombarded with messages that push the idea we should always be striving for a thinner, fitter, more “perfect” version of ourselves.

This messaging is everywhere. And over time, we begin to internalize it.

But here’s the truth: every body is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all diet or workout plan. Some people swear by Keto, Paleo, Intermittent Fasting, or Calorie Tracking. Sure, these approaches might work short-term for some—but are they sustainable long-term?

Can you really say goodbye to chocolate and pasta forever? Do you want to feel guilty every time you enjoy a slice of cake? Is weighing and tracking every single thing you eat realistic for the rest of your life?

What if there was another way?

What if you could ditch diet culture and take care of your body in a way that feels good—without guilt or restriction? What if weight loss could be natural, gentle, and sustainable?

The Quick Fix Myth

Most people are chasing a quick fix, but lasting weight loss isn’t something that can be rushed. You did not gain the extra weight overnight just like you are not going to lose it overnight. If your body is holding onto weight, there is likely a reason—and it’s not about lack of willpower.

Maybe you’ve been eating more and moving less. Maybe you’ve been dealing with hormone imbalances, chronic illness, mental health challenges, or other life stressors. Maybe it’s all of the above.

Please hear this: your weight gain is not your fault. It never was.

Our modern lives are designed for convenience. Highly processed, calorie-dense foods are more accessible than ever. Our schedules are packed, making it hard to find time for home-cooked meals and movement. It’s not laziness—it’s reality.

1200 Calories Is The Lie We Have All Been Sold…

For some reason, 1200 calories a day became the “magic number” for weight loss.

Let’s be clear: 1200 calories is the nutritional requirement of a toddler. You, my friend, are not a toddler.

Adult women typically need 1,800–2,400 calories/day while Adult men typically need 2,200–3,000 calories/day

Your body has unique caloric needs based on your height, weight, age, gender, activity level, occupation, and hormone profile. Even if you were to lie completely still for 24 hours, your body still needs energy—your lungs need to breathe, your heart needs to beat, and your brain needs fuel.

As soon as you get up, think, work, move, or exercise—you need even more energy. You need to eat. And if you’re constantly under-eating, your body is not going to work with you—it’s going to work against you.

You Can Lose Weight Without Hating Your Life

You’re allowed to enjoy your life while working towards becoming the healthiest version of yourself. You don’t need to cut out pasta, bread, or chocolate. You don’t need to follow restrictive food rules or fear carbs.

What you do need is balance.

You can learn how to eat intuitively, listen to your hunger and fullness cues, and practice portion control without obsession. You can prioritize whole, nourishing foods most of the time and still enjoy the fun stuff in moderation.

There are no “good” or “bad” foods. Food isn’t moral. You’re not “bad” if you eat a cookie, and you’re not “good” if you eat an apple. You’re just eating—a normal, necessary part of life.

Here’s a mindset shift: you’re hungry and looking for a snack. You see a bowl of apples and a plate of cookies. Ask yourself—what will keep me full longer? What will give me energy and leave me feeling satisfied?

Sometimes the answer is the apple. Sometimes it’s the cookie. And sometimes it’s both. There’s a time and place for everything.
